#UPRISE2K26

#PIWILLRISE

UPRISE is a one-day youth summit that centers the voices and experiences of Pacific Islander Youth in the PNW.

Why
Uprise?

We hope to encourage and provide resources to our youth to ensure bright futures as well as gain more involvement from parents and educators in student success. We plan on using our voice to advocate for positive changes in systems and cultivate healthy dialogue about the unique needs of NH/PI students for school staff and provide tangible educational success skills for our NH/PI students and families.

Our mission & History

Empower

Empower NH/PI students with knowledge, skills, and resources to advocate for themselves and their education, to develop leadership capacities, to pursue their dreams and hope for a brighter future.

Engage

Support engagement of NH/PI parents and families in the education process of their children through meaningful dialogue and brainstorming with other parents and school personnel.

Equip

Equip and strengthen the capacity of teachers and faculty who work with NH/PI students.

This year, UPRISE returns for the first time since 2020. Over the course of its existence, UPRISE has consistently brought together approximately 300 Pacific Islander high school students, their families, school administrators, faculty and staff from around Puget Sound each year. Since 2012, UPRISE has continued to cultivate healthy dialogue about the unique needs of Pacific Islander students for school staff and provide tangible educational success skills for our PI students and their families. By providing a safe space for these important exchanges, we can better guide our communities toward critical thinking, knowledge building, problem solving, and the creation of action plans for educational success.

Young Pacific Islander students are a gifted and talented group of people. UPRISE is an ideal venue where they can build on their strengths, cultivate their leadership growth, validate their experiences, and send them into the school year with empowerment, affirmation and support.
