PICA-WA PIERCE COUNTY CHAPTER

Our Pierce County NHPI community is the second largest NHPI community in the State of Washington. Historically, the Samoan, CHamoru & Native Hawaiian community have settled this region due to proximity to the local military base, Fort Lewis. NHPI communities is a vibrant part of the Pierce County cultural fabric. Pierce County has become a hub for many Pasifika communities who were displaced due to gentrification in search of more accessible housing. Our PICA-WA – Pierce County Chapter is primarily focused on co-designing interventions in partnership with the Tacoma Pierce County Health District to mitigate inequities caused by long-standing systemic racism along with standing up our political advocacy work to activate the leadership of our families.
