Our PICA-WA – King County Chapter thrives due a collaboration with all of our NHPI organization and networks which include our partners: Marshallese Women’s Association, UTOPIA Seattle, Chuukese Women’s Association, FSM Covid 19 Taskforce, Pacific Islander Health Board, Seattle Malua Church, Lake Burien Presbyterian Church, YES Foundation/Our Future Matters, and South King Organizers Alliance who continue to support our Pasifika communities in King County. King County is home to our biggest population in Washington and Federal Way has the highest number of Pasifika families within King County.
Our healthcare partners include International Community Health Services, UW Medicine, Harborview, Healthpoint, Valley Cities and others to co-design culturally responsive care. We also work with local food systems partners such as Food Lifeline & NW Harvest to mitigate food insecurity experienced by NHPI families while partnering with them in promoting food justice policies to reduce access to healthy affordable foods for communities of color.
Our King County Food Distribution site is located at: 26505 Military Road S, Kent Washington. It occurs weekly on Thursdays from 3pm to 6pm. Please drive by and our PICA-WA staff and volunteers will provide food boxes to be loaded in your backseat or trunk.
We partner with SCAN to provide NHPI families access to at-home Covid 19 testing kits that are delivered by SCAN staff and picked up. Test results come back within two days. To get an at-home testing kit, please fill out the screener. The priority code for SCAN enrollment is: PACISLWA. The online screener is available here: https://scanpublichealth.org/screener.
If you, your family or a Pasifika family you know is going through a crisis and need social support, please reach out to our PICA-WA staff to conduct a service assessment so we can make appropriate referrals to the right services. Fill out form below.
