Pasifika Village Council Teach-In: Police Accountability

March 28 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Pasifika communities have suffered under policing policies that are birthed from anti-Indigenous and anti-Black sentiment. We are in alignment with restructuring our policing systems so it reflects the values of the communities they serve. We stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women’s Movement and call on the defunding of harmful policing systems while investing in public safety methods based on restorative justice principles. This session is intended to:

  • Build a base of accountability and collective power
  • Promote the growth of statewide civic engagement capacity and cross-generational leadership through NH/PI engagement, visibility, action, and leadership within its communities
  • Advocate for the unique and diverse health and other social justice needs of Native Hawaiian (NH) and Pacific Islander (PI) communities across the state of Washington
  • Address NH/PI regional and statewide policy concerns and build strategies of advocacy with NH/PI communities

Join the Pasifika Village Council teach-in on police accountability with our panelists: Faapouaita Leapai, Keichiro Andrews and Kalani Young. We will be broadcasting the teach-in live on our Facebook page.
